From what I was told, this dude is a Greek or Turkish Oil Wrestler. He's sporting an ALIEN QUEEN Tattoo that looks to me to be of McFarlane's Queen figure.
*thanks, Dupree!

"ELEANOR" graciously shares her in-progress ALIEN TATTOO - check it out! It's based on one of Giger's classic Alien paintings - one of my favorites, too!
Thanks for sharing, Eleanor! And please send me updates of the progress and/or the final finished tattoo!

I woke up this morning to find a nice email from JimSmash Reader "Tiger". He shared with me his Alien tattoo and said, "Perhaps you will be able to recognize the source image?"

From one of the AVP movie posters.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't recognize the tattoo artwork as being from somewhere before... although it did seem familiar. In the end, I think it simply reminded me of the cover to the ALIEN 3 comic adaptation (above right). Also, the HEAD of the Alien looks similar to the INTERIOR art (not shown) from the series ALIENS: GENOCIDE (bottom 2 are from the covers). Perhaps the person looked at other work as reference or guides?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yikes, that's a big Alien Tattoo! Anyway, I recognized the source but I'm not 100% where its from originally. I just recognized it from an old gaming magazine, so I assume its from an Aliens game. The alien's design is from the 2nd movie (ALIENS), so maybe its from ALIEN:TRILOGY back on the PS1? I remember seeing the source image about 10yrs ago I think....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of the better ALIEN Tattoos I've seen! Pretty freakin' sweet if you ask me! I instantly recognized the source, too - from the killer DOOR POSTER from back in the late 80s. I know this because I really really wanted it but never got it. Hell, I STILL want it! The door poster actually shows the Alien from Head to Toe. Crap, now I need to hunt down that poster........
UPDATE: I now own that door poster!
This "Tribal Alien Tattoo" (as it was labeled), is taken from John Bolton's painted cover for the comic mini-series "ALIENS: EARTH WAR" by Dark Horse Comics (Issue #3, to be precise). A few things came to mind when I first saw this image. Here's a glimpse into Jimmy's mind:
1) "That's from John Bolton's painting for the cover of ALIENS: EARTH WAR #3."
2) "I really hated those stupid 'new' aliens in the book, that had the spikes coming out of the sides of their heads."
3) "Man, those 'new' aliens were stupid. Who would put one on their body?"
4) "Ah, it's giving us the finger. Classy. I hate rednecks."
5) "Let's not make snap judgments, please. This is clearly-clearly an important species we're dealing with here." --Burke from Aliens.
6) [Internal giggle at immediate Aliens quote-use in my mind].
7) "Man, I really hated those stupid 'new' aliens with the stupid spikes. Who came up with that idea? The writer? Sam Keith (interior artist)? Bolton (cover artist)? Editor? Stupid. Don't mess with perfection, damnit."
This one I knew instantly, but could not find the proper image, ugh. The source image, I believe (know) is from a life-size Alien statue/maquette replica from ALIEN: RESURRECTION. I've seen the pic hundreds of times online but of course when the time comes to USE it, its not longer there! I've been searching with various search engines for WEEKS, but its simply gone! I did, however, find this crappy pic of a MINIATURE of the replica. Totally sucks cause the photo I was looking for was 100% without a doubt the SAME photo used for that tattoo. Oh well.
And again, I snub my nose at putting the alien from Resurrection on someone's body. I kid, I kid.

This Alien Tattoo art is taken from the Aliens Vs Predator computer games.
Btw, I access all this "Alien Source Information" from my brain in a folder labeled "Math".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nice! I'm thinking the source is an Alien model....??
UPDATE: I knew I had seen the source before!!
I posted the compare.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very nice tattoo! This was one of those moments where I kind of scared myself with knowing the source image. This one, I think, came from some rarely-seen promo pics from Amalgamated Dynamics - the guys who made the Alien costumes for AVP (and Alien 3 & Resurrection). Again, nice tattoo work, but I snub my nose at putting an image from AVP on One's body. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you're going to get an ALIENS tattoo, use the Alien from either ALIEN or ALIENS.).

This one's pretty sweet cause the source image is MIKE MIGNOLA art, from his one-shot comic "ALIENS: SALVATION". Flipping the image won't fool me! I knew it instantly! Anyway, what I don't get is, why not just take in the Mignola art to the parlor? Cause if you look closely, the tattoo version has been redrawn, tweaked slightly (no inner tongue) and well, not as cool looking as Mignola's. Of course, you can't improve on Mignola art, but that just proves my point here. However, its still a sweet tattoo and its on the back of a punk chick. I'm in love.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of the better ALIEN Tattoos I've seen. That's not necessarily saying much, as most Alien tats I see suck. But this one is pretty cool. I'm thinking he used the McFarlane ALIENS figure as reference. Overall, its pretty neat, but I do miss the back spike... and the head is a bit too elongated. ;)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Alien looks really familiar.... either it's from a comic or its from the Halcyon model kit... if its from a comic, its from an image I've seen (but couldn't find for this post) that was using that halycon model for reference. Or so I think...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nipple!!! Anyway, this tattoo is clearly freehanded designed. When I first saw it, it looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. About 2minutes later it popped into my head - it looks somewhat similar to the image used for the ALIEN SAGA dvd release several years ago. The image used for the dvd packaging was an unused pic of Stan Winston's Alien suit from ALIENS. The cover is cropped, but the poster for the release showed the full alien, pretty much in the pose in the Tat (trust me) - its a pretty awesome poster and I have it framed, heh. So yeah, I'm thinking that image was the source of inspiration for the Tat. Why they didn't go for the full effect and instead go with the crappy faux-Giger work is beyond me.
UPDATE: I just realized that same Alien image was also used for the Director's Cut dvd of AVP (pic below). Funny that they use STAN WINSTON's Alien (from ALIENS) to sell this movie, instead of using the actual Alien featured in AVP. Anyway, that image better shows the alien's hips and legs to better compare to the tattoo pose.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first thing I thought when I saw it was that it looked similar to the cover to ALIENS: GENOCIDE #3, by Dark Horse Comics. I dunno, what do you think? Think that's the "source" and "inspiration" for the design?
